Bacon-Wrapped Grilled Hot Dogs

There is no simpler upgrade to a hot dog than wrapping it in bacon. The bacon gets smoky and crispy on the grill while basting the dog in its rendered fat. It is easy, it is fun, and it turns an ordinary hot dog into something everyone reaches for twice.

Instructions

Wrap the dogs

Starting at one end, wrap a slice of bacon around each hot dog in a tight spiral, stretching the bacon slightly as you go. Secure both ends with toothpicks.

Preheat grill

Set grill to medium heat (350-375°F). Clean and oil the grates to prevent sticking.

Grill

Place bacon-wrapped dogs on the grill with the bacon seam side down first. Grill for 12-15 minutes, turning every 3-4 minutes, until the bacon is evenly crispy on all sides.

Pro tip: Keep flare-ups under control by moving dogs away from direct flame if the bacon grease causes flames.

Serve

Remove toothpicks. Toast buns on the grill for 30 seconds. Place each bacon dog in a bun and load with your favorite toppings.
