The conversion is 25°F lower and 20% less time. An air fryer is a small convection oven: the fan moves hot air fast over a small load, so food browns sooner than the same food would in a full-size oven at the same setting.

The basket size matters more than the conversion does. A single layer with air moving between the pieces cooks in the time above; a heaped basket steams instead of crisping and can take half again as long. Cook in two batches rather than one crowded one.

Frozen food goes straight in — no thawing, and no adjustment beyond a few extra minutes. But frozen chicken must still reach 165°F (74°C) at the centre, and a thick frozen breast browns outside long before the middle is safe. Check it, do not assume it.

Questions people ask

How long to air fry frozen chicken breast?

About 22-25 minutes at 360°F (182°C), flipping halfway. Do not go by the clock: a frozen breast must read 165°F (74°C) at its thickest point.

How long to air fry 2 chicken breasts?

Fresh and about 200 g each, 16-18 minutes at 375°F (190°C), flipped once. Two fit in most baskets in a single layer; three usually do not.

Do I need to preheat an air fryer?

Three minutes is enough, and it matters most for anything you want crisp. Cold-start a full basket and the food sits in warming air long enough to dry out before it browns.
