Prep asparagus
Snap off the woody ends of the asparagus (they break naturally at the right point). Toss the spears lightly with olive oil, garlic powder, and pepper.
Make bundles
Group 4-5 asparagus spears together. Wrap each bundle with 2 slices of bacon in a spiral pattern, covering as much surface as possible. The bacon should overlap slightly.
Pro tip: Use thin-cut bacon — it crisps faster and wraps more tightly than thick-cut.
Grill
Preheat grill to medium heat (375°F). Place bundles seam-side down first. Grill for 10-12 minutes total, turning every 3 minutes, until bacon is crispy on all sides and asparagus is tender-crisp.
Serve
Transfer to a platter. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the bundles and sprinkle with grated parmesan. Serve immediately while the bacon is still crispy.
