Directions

Step 1: Prepare the Tomato Topping

  1. Dice the tomatoes and place them in a bowl.
  2. Add minced garlic, chopped basil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Stir well and let sit for at least 10 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.

Step 2: Toast the Bread

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat a grill pan over medium heat.
  2. Lightly brush both sides of the whole-grain baguette slices with a small amount of olive oil.
  3. Arrange them on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 5 minutes, or grill for about 2 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
  4. Remove from heat and rub each slice with a garlic clove for extra flavor.

Step 3: Assemble & Serve

  1. Spoon the tomato mixture onto each toasted bread slice.
  2. Optionally, drizzle with a small amount of additional olive oil.
